Most women these days would experience yeast infection. Vaginal infection is
the most common. Moreover, pregnant women are more likely to experience such
infections due to some reasons that are hardly even noticed.

Yeast infection is also known as vaginal candidiasis. Candida albicans is the
fungus that would cause the infection throughout the vaginal area. But it's a
fact that this fungus do already exist in every women's body. It would only
cause infection to occur due to some reasons that triggers such cause.

Having an improper diet is one of the factors that cause the fungus to
multiply. Eating too much food that is high in glucose and carbohydrates
aggravates its existence. Candida albicans will feed from the glucose and
carbohydrates you take.

The most common suspected cause of yeast infection in pregnant women is the
rapid change of estrogen levels in the body. Glycogen is increased as the
estrogen production increases. It's a fact that Candida albicans will increase
its population when there is massive glycogen production that causes yeast
infection. Studies show that this reason is more likely the cause of yeast
infection in pregnant women.

Prolonged intake of antibiotics is also one of the factors that cause the
infection. Antibiotics should only be taken for a maximum of one week when you
have an infection to treat. But if you take it longer then it causes Candida
albicans to work with it causing it to multiply even more in the infected area.

Itchiness, irritation, burning sensation, soreness and redness around the
vaginal area are the early symptoms of the infection. If left untreated, it
would lead to a more serious problem such as the occurrence of odorless white
creamy chess-like discharges. You may also have to abstain sex for a while
which would cause more pain.

Though the said infection may seem harmful as it sounds, it doesn't affect the
development of the fetus inside your womb during pregnancy. But treatment would
still have to be done immediately.

Treatment for such infection in pregnant women is just the same as the usual
treatment in regular people who has the infection. But consulting a doctor
would be more appropriate to make sure of a safe pregnancy even with the
medications prescribed for the treatment. Your doctor may even prescribed
medications that would treat the infection specifically for pregnant women.

Three out of ten pregnant women may experience yeast infection. Know its early
signs and symptoms to have an early treatment. Keep in mind that yeast
infection is treatable.
