These are certain questions that can help you see the disowned part of
yourself. This list can assist you in determining what aspects of yourself you
need to know better, and recognize, because these are the aspects that you
yourself would like to reject.

- What aspects of things I dislike do I see in myself? Well, this question
would hopefully make you realize that there are many things that we dislike,
and yet, in a way it is ourselves that we dislike. We do not like these things
because they remind us of what is unlikable for us that is in ourselves.

- If the dark side inside me has a question, what would "it" ask? This question
can enlighten you with how much of yourself you really know. Do you really
acknowledge the "dark side" in you? And do you really see what it means to have
this "dark side"? Communicate with yourself. See if you can learn new insights
from deep within yourself.

- If there is a message from the dark side within me, what message would that
be? This question explores the messages you can receive from deep within. You
can see that there is this emptiness you feel, and maybe there is a message
from that emptiness. So what is it telling you?

- How do I become more positively receptive to what I can learn from having
dark impulses? Our dark impulses can teach us many things. Humility for
instance. Being humble comes from the acknowledgment that there is indeed evil
within us, and that we are capable of doing the same horrible things we usually
tend to condemn in others.

- What are the parts of the self that I may have disowned? These parts need to
be identified and acknowledged. Anger problems are usually the issue that comes
with this question. Are you secretly angry with your family, friends and the
world? Are you angry with yourself? Do you hate yourself? Asking these
questions can help you let those hidden parts of the self come out. You must
not condemn these parts, but rather listen to these broken parts of the self.
In this way, healing can come closer to reality. Communication is indeed a key
factor for all kinds of healing.

With this list, do your self-assessment slowly and accurately. With a firm hope
for true self-knowledge, continue in your journey to be a better person.
