Some people are simply skeptical about psychology. Some simply do not really
put trust in people. But other people simply do not know what kind of problems
would require the help of psychology, or psychologists for that matter. So,
this article can give you an idea.

Okay, what would be a psychologically related problem? Broadly speaking, a
problem can be seen as happening when what you do is not actually what you
would like to be doing. Now in your life, if you can express this in very clear
terms, then the problem is already on its way for a solution. Indeed, you may
not need professional help anymore.

But of course complications do exist. Maybe even when you already identify your
problem or problems in very clear and concrete terms, something is blocking you
from the good kind of change you are after. To make it more complex, the
"block" can be out of your consciousness. This is the kind of problem a good
therapy can help solve. How? A psychologist can guide you in knowing this
unconscious block-in making some aspect of your unconscious, conscious for you.
Okay, this is hard work. Because of psychological defense mechanisms, in a
manner of speaking, you will be your own enemy. Your psychological defenses are
designed to keep out of awareness the things in yourself that you are afraid of.

Another complicated situation is the presence of a continual
dissatisfaction-and yet you cannot identify the source of that kind of
frustration. Frustrations are frustrating enough, but the worse kind is when
you can't identify the root of your frustration, or even what your frustrations
are. In this case, the best approach for you and the psychologist you will be
consulting (and thus, you do trust) would be to focus on defining and
identifying the problem.

Professional help can quite be, well, very expensive. The key to be learned
seems easy though-it is all about knowing the problem, and defining it clearly.
That is already half of the solution. Even a friend can help, if you can't
afford professional help. Simply remind yourself to trace back your history
clearly. You must be honest with yourself thoroughly and without reserve.

Because of our humanity, we tend to make illusions to hide from pain. This can
complicate the problem solving process. However, take courage and work through
this to live a richer and fuller life.
