Thursday (12/10/09) from noon to 3:30 PM

While going outside to shovel/clean-up the drive I would get fleeting
shadows that usually were what looked like Rough-legged Hawks.
The hawks were big, never had Red tails and were very Black (OK, dark
Gray) and White blotchy underneath.
When one would catch my eye, there was usually another one nearby for a PM
total of Seven .
I did not get the binocs to see if there were higher hawks.
All the ones that I saw, not much higher than tree top level, were soaring
and actively flying.
I also saw three of the same while driving from Cross Roads (South
Waterloo) to Gilbertville around 11 AM.
I do not know if being next to the Cedar River helped increase the count.

Today, Friday, I had a good second story view (panoramic school windows)
of the river airways but saw no Raptors all day.
