Below is a message from Chad who is with Hitchcock Nature Center. He and his
crew were performing prescribed burns in eastern Pottawattomie County.

Also seen around Hitchcock: On the 6th a neighbor reported "numerous hawks
in a field close by". I went to Hitchcock on the 7th between 5-6 pm and saw
15 SWHA tacking into a strong north wind during 15 minutes of observation.
(Wished I had been able to go up earlier!) On the 8th I spent 2 hours midday
at Hitchcock and did not see one Swainsons. I did see two purple martins and
a peregrine falcon (tundrius subspecies) migrating north.

Good evening HawkWatchers:

I thought of you all today as I had about 10 Swainson's hawks hunting in my
smoke column today on the east side of the county. One stooped on some prey
about 50 yards from me. Very cool.
