Subject: [ia-bird] female Eurasian wigeon

Hi again,

Today, April 10, 2PM, at Jensen Marsh, Madison Co., I found a female
Eurasian wigeon.
I described it to my wife, who has less bird experience than I do but who
saw the bird, as
"rounder headed than other nearby ducks, with a pale blue too-short bill
giving it a juvenile appearance,
with a grizzled reddish head." This is a species I saw several times while
living in Seattle and even a
couple times while living in Massachusetts.
This duck was the size of gadwalls nearby, swimming with countless coots,
but no other wigeon.
A lot of nice waterbirds here.

Yesterday, in Union Co., at 7PM, at Thayer Pond Park, we saw an osprey
perched in an oak above the south shore of this big pond. This followed
quickly by our seeing two Eurasian collared doves in the village of Afton,
in Union Co.

All the best,
Andrew Williams
