I feel extremely fortunate to say that the Rock Wren is still being seen. At 7pm, after two and a half hours of waiting, the bird flew from the ditch on the north side and landed smack in the middle of the road not more than forty feet from me. It hopped around nervously for about 30 seconds and then flew into the cedars. What it was doing on the north side of the road, with no cover, in the cold wind or how it was out and about without me seeing it previously on the farmstead is beyond me.
