Working a BBA block NE of Carroll yesterday (Merrit Access and Dickson Timber
vicinity), I managed to count 42 singing Dickcissels along about 10 miles of
grassy roadsides. This is the most I've seen in a similar-sized area yet this
year, and I didn't get to cover anywhere near all of the block.

In the Dickson Timber area itself, I found Wood Thrush, Scarlet Tanager and
Pileated Woodpecker. Not bad for a fairly isolated piece of forest on the
North Raccoon River in Carroll County.
