We have a cardinal that just began sitting on nest last week. Dick Sayles ------Original Message------ From: Rick Hollis Sender: [email protected] To: IA-BIRD ReplyTo: Rick Hollis Subject: [ia-bird] Odd Catbird Behavior Sent: Aug 18, 2010 1:37 PM
Yesterday afternoon, I watched a Catbird picking through the grass. It picked up a clump of dry stuff --- probably what the lawn mower kicked out. I figured it would put in down and pick through it looking for yummies. Instead it flew into a bush and then hopped deeper in the bush until I lost sight. Question: was it hopping deeper to get out of the rain playing at nest building -- Rick Hollis North Liberty, IA --- Please contribute your sightings to our list; it is only as good as members make it! --- Birding channel recommendation for FRS/GMRS radio use: Primary selection; channel 5/0 , alternate selection; channel 6/0 --- This mailing list is sponsored by the Iowa Ornithologists' Union.
