We have a cardinal that just began sitting on nest last week.

Subject: [ia-bird] Odd Catbird Behavior
Sent: Aug 18, 2010 1:37 PM

Yesterday afternoon, I watched a Catbird picking through the grass.
It picked up a clump of dry stuff --- probably what the lawn mower
kicked out. I figured it would put in down and pick through it
looking for yummies. Instead it flew into a bush and then hopped
deeper in the bush until I lost sight.

Question: was it
hopping deeper to get out of the rain
playing at nest building
