MessageSong Sparrows on the North Shore of Lake Superior did that to our vehicle's grill and bumpers on private property...would take 1 or 2 days before they started and then would do it every day for the 2-3 weeks we were there.

While at Death Valley I enjoyed watching an opportunistic Brewer's Blackbird. He worked the curb of a parking lot, and flew to each car that entered the lot. He then fluttered back and forth, along the front bumper of the car...picking off road-killed insects. This guy definitely had a slick system, and only had to wait for the bugs to come to him! Behaviorism never ceases to amaze me, I guess... Wondering if anyone else has observed this sort of bird behavior ?
