Hi everyone, There's a single pelican on a small wooded pond just east of Marengo. She/he's been there for about 2 weeks. I've seen him standing and preening on a small island, and also swimming. There are fish in the pond, left over from when the Iowa River was higher.
Possibly the pelican can't fly for some reason and it seems unusual to see one by itself at this time of the year. Any suggestions on what to do, if anything, or any information on lone pelicans would be appreciated. Thanks.
