The conservationists in Hardin County started buying timber land around 50 years ago.....It now comprises the Iowa River Green Belt....Luckily they purchased these areas before the farmers cut down every tree along the river....If they had their way they would figure out a way to place culverts in creeks, cover them with dirt and farm over them.....The Hardin County Green Belt is wonderful and the DNR has nothing to do with it....It is a great place to "bird".
