I can't claim to have seen the swans yesterday, but there was a loggerhead shrike on T avenue just north of its intersection with 220th west of the marsh. It was definitely a loggerhead and not a northern.

Cone Marsh in northern Louisa county was charged with migratory activity, mostly geese in numbers that were almost deafening. However, in the northwest corner we observed seventeen swans. We were unable to identify as tundra or trumpeter at our location from the road. Also we were lucky to see three sandhill cranes in flight on the south side of the public area. North of Lone Tree we also got a prolonged look at a light morph rough-legged hawk perching and hovering. --- Please contribute your sightings to our list; it is only as good as members make it! --- Birding channel recommendation for FRS/GMRS radio use: Primary selection; channel 5/0 , alternate selection; channel 6/0 --- This mailing list is sponsored by the Iowa Ornithologists' Union.
