Costa Rica: Images from a Green Land By Linda and Robert Scarth Tuesday, March 15 at 7 p.m Des Moines Audubon Program
Hummingbirds are synonymous with Costa Rica to many photographers and bird watchers. Linda & Robert Scarth, from Cedar Rapids, were among a group of photographers who visited several locations with the aim of photographing flight behavior and portraits of wild hummingbirds. The Scarths also visited a farm where wild, free-flying Great Green or Buffon's Macaws (Ara ambiguus) and Scarlet Macaws (Ara macao) come to the farmer's call.
Meetings of Des Moines Audubon Society begin at 7 p.m. and are held in the lower level of Westminster Presbyterian Church, which is located at the corner of Beaver and Franklin Avenues in Des Moines. Parking is available on the north and west sides of the church and an elevator can be accessed at the west door.
