The following waterfowl and birds were found at Cardinal Marsh on St. Patrick's Day: 350 white-fronted geese, 2 snow geese, 175 Canada geese, 1 trumpeter swan, 20 wood ducks, 4 gadwall, 8 American widgeon, 225 mallards, 6 northern shovelers, 9 northern pintails, 15 green-winged teal, 6 canvasbacks, 35 ring-necked ducks, 22 lesser scaup, 1 common merganser, 3 sandhill cranes, 2 killdeer, 3 ring-billed gulls, 40 American tree sparrows and 600 red-winged blackbirds. Just a couple small open-water areas with geese feeding in picked crop fields.
