Cone Marsh had about twenty Snow Geese on the ground plus a couple of fly-over
flocks totaling 300. 8 or so Pipits(lifer once removed). A flock of about 300
longspurs flew over the caboose area, at least one of which was a Lapland with
a
fully black throat, probably all Laplanders, eh? A Great Egret. A pair of Wood
Ducks at the boat launch--had them together in one view, close, at 35X,
awesome.
I saw the female blink a few times and her eye lid is white like the
"eye-ring."
I saw the male blink a few times and I think his eye lid is also white. They
blink from the bottom up. They were on a fallen limb at shoreline. Many Coots.
Probably a hundred Cormorants flying about and on the water. A Bald Eagle
cruised over. 7 Snipes on the 220th dyke/road and 3 or 4 out from the Caboose.
About a hundred White Pelicans. Many Northern Shovelers, Blue-winged and
Green-winged Teal. A couple Pintails looking good. A Western Meadowlark was
giving the two-note chirp at the corner of T and 220th, same place as last year.
Port Louisa at the end of 120th was a little grown over or low water. Best
thing
there were 17 Tree Swallows. 5 or 6 Great Blue Herons flew over. An immature
Bald Eagle also flew over.
