Thanks Ann Johnson for the quick post.

We found a Neotropic Cormorant this afternoon at Bay's Branch in Guthrie County. The bird was perched on a low snag at the south end of the area, directly northward from the high overlook area on 200th Avenue. It preened here for some time, then flew northward into the lake. The white " < " marking at the rear of the bill (gular area) was very easily seen. The bird was sitting between two Double-crested Cormorants on the snag, and so size comparison was also easy to see. There were upwards of 500 cormorants at Bay's Branch, so looking for this individual will require some patience.

First-of-the-year birds today included:

Wood Duck - Beaver Creek, Dallas County;
Ruby-crowned Kinglet, Golden-crowned Kinglet, Fox Sparrow - Ledges State Park, Boone County (missed the Louisiana Waterthrush which is why we were there!;
Blue-winged Teal - Harrier Marsh, Boone County;
Rusty Blackbird - Snake Creek Marsh, Greene County;
American Pipit, American Golden-Plover, Pectoral Sandpiper, Baird's Sandpiper - Dunbar Slough, Greene County; Greater and Lesser Yellowlegs - McCord's Pond, Guthrie County, (water level here very low, should be good for shorbs);
Double-crested Cormorant, Neotropic Cormorant, Bay's Branch, Guthrie County.
