A  nice total 56 species on my weekly sojourn around Lake Ahquabi.  Good birds
included:

1 Horned Grebe
1 Green Heron
3 Osprey
1 Broad-wing Hawk - dark phase

Later in the day in southern Polk Co. 25 Great-tailed Grackles traveling with a
flock of Red-winged blackbirds.  The grackles made the red-wings look like
goldfinches!

Amongst the many Greater and Lesser Yellowlegs at the Hartford Wildlife Area
was one Black-necked Stilt.  This area is accessed from Hwy 5, south of
Hartford, in Warren Co.  Follow the Webb Camping signs.  Instead of entering
Webb's take the dead end road to the Des Moines river.  The bird was to the
southeast.
