Yesterday there were 13 bright male purple finches at the feeders and at least that many female or immatures. Also lots of goldfinches still going through. We have at least 100 or more goldfinches. I was so busy counting purples that I did not count goldfinches. I just know the trees are painted yellow with them. We used to have the house finches (a pair nested in our apple tree for a couple of years) but I have not had house finches at all this year.
