We have a female red fox which dens each spring about 100ft from our back-door, and beneath one of the out-buildings on our Urbandale acreage. She raises a batch of pups each year, and we are treated to views of them throughout the year scurrying about our acreage. They are fun to watch & photograph....and they also help to keep the rabbits under control! Saw the kits just a couple days ago, although they are moving around the neighborhood now, and are good sized.
Seems like everyone has RB Grobeaks now. We had several at our Urbandale feeder this past w/e, and I also saw several when leaving my photo-blind in Dallas Co. on Sunday. I have HEARD them in London and I know the foxes in London are common and have been described to me as being much bigger than our little foxes. (Like our raccoons, they feed on garbage, so that may account for the size.) I have seen lots of foxes in the countryside before in Pennsylvania and Virginia.
