When I got off of work last night, I headed directly to Iowa County where the
CINNAMON TEAL reported yesterday by Chris Edwards and Bill Scheible was still
present between 5:30 and 6 p.m. Lovely lovely bird, one of my favorites!

I then saw the email from Jim Forde about a SNOWY EGRET being present earlier
Tuesday at Hawkeye Wildlife Area (Johnson County) so stopped by the Gunclub
Ponds on my way home, where it was feeding along the shore of the west pond
around 6:45-7:00. Around 7:00 a number of Great Egrets began flying over and
after a few minutes the Snowy joined them to head off elsewhere to roost for
the night.

At both spots a number of shorebirds were present. The Gunclub Ponds had a
quite a few DOWITCHERS and a couple of WILSON'S PHALAROPES. At Swan Lake (also
HWA) a single SOLITARY SANDPIPER was present.
