Hi All, After having to deal with plumbing issues in my apartment this morning, I took a stroll through Hickory Hill Park in Iowa City and then wandered over to River Valley Wetland in Cedar Co. after lunch. There was definitely some turnover from last night, highlighted by 14 species of warblers in small numbers. Hickory Hill Park, Iowa City (46 species) --------------- 3 Great Crested Flycatchers 2 Yellow-throated Vireo (FOY) 1 Blue-headed Vireo 1 Red-eyed Vireo (FOY) 19 Ruby-crowned Kinglets 1 Blue-winged Warbler (FOY) 1 Orange-crowned Warbler 1 Nashville Warbler 3 Chestnut-sided Warblers (FOY) 1 Magnolia Warbler (FOY) brilliant adult male 34 Yellow-rumped Warblers 2 Blackpoll Warblers (FOY) two spiffy males 13 Black-and-white Warblers (FOY just yesterday) 4 American Redstart 5 Northern Waterthrush 2 Lincoln's Sparrows (1 singing) 109 White-throated Sparrows (half of what I had in the park yesterday afternoon!) 2 Indigo Buntings River Valley Wetland, Cedar Co. (57 species) --------------- 1 Sharp-shinned Hawk (dive bombing 2 Red-tails in the same thermal) 1 Solitary Sandpiper 3 Lesser Yellowlegs 2 Red-headed Woodpeckers 1 Least Flycatcher 2 Great Crested Flycatchers 1 Warbling Vireo 1 Gray-cheeked Thrush (FOY) 1 Wood Thrush (FOY) 3 Orange-crowned Warbler 4 Nashville Warbler 2 Northern Parula 2 Yellow Warbler 1 Chestnut-sided Warbler 1 Bay-breasted Warbler (FOY) female 5 Black-and-white Warblers 1 American Redstart 3 Northern Waterthrush 3 Lincoln's Sparrows 1 singing Swamp Sparrow Rose-breasted Grosbeaks and Baltimore Orioles present both locales.
