Of all the possibilities for birds on the U of I Campus, a Marsh Wren was one I never considered..... but sure enough, singing away off the north pedestrian bridge near Hancher Auditorium. I sat and watched him work around in a pile of brush just above the bridge on the east side of the Iowa River, often at the water's edge.... probably sang a dozen times in the 5 minutes I sat and watched. White-throated Sparrows sure, singing American Redstart no problem, but a singing Marsh Wren c'mon now.... what is this? Migration? Danny Akers Iowa City & Ankeny [email protected]
