Hello Birders,
My biggest nemesis bird is the Marbled Godwit. One was seen at Table Marsh
in Woodbury County yesterday so I decided to check for it late this
afternoon. No luck in that department. Despite this, I still managed to
have a good trip. I stayed until 9pm to watch the herons and egrets come
out onto the mud flats to feed. It was neat to see the Black-crowned
Night-Herons coming out into the open to find food. This should be an
awesome spot for birds this spring, just as long as the water levels don't
get any lower than they are now.....excellent shorebird habitat today-as
evidenced by the large amounts of peeps, dowitchers, yellowlegs,
phalaropes, etc, that are using the area. Unfortunately, the marsh seems
to be in danger of drying up. Here are some of the highlights:

1 Piping Plover
6 Hudsonian Godwit
8 American Bittern (all heard)
7 Great Egret
1 Snowy Egret (ad)
1 Cattle Egret
9 Black-crowned Night-Heron
1 Great-tailed Grackle (displaying)

Good Birding,
