My short birding trip at Lacey started at 6:45 a.m. with a gorgeous male
Pileated who landed on the ground next to the road as I was driving to the
west entrance. It only got better from there!

I found the Gold Winged Warblers (lifer for me); they are at the burnt
clearing near the monument/west entrance
N. Parulas and Black & White Warblers also seen in this area.

Black Throated Green Warbler (life bird for me)was at monument turn out
spot.
Lots of noisy Catbirds, cardinals, RH & RB Woodpeckers

If you walk south of burnt clearing on the wide mown path to the natural
meadow you will find warblers galore! Notables:

Blue Winged Warblers--several males calling--got tremendous looks!
Several Tennessee Warblers (lifer)
Nashville Warblers
Magnolia Warblers
YR Warbler (of course)
More parulas, more b&w warblers, probably some other warbler sp. I missed.

Several Common Yellow Throats, RB Grosbeak pair, Chipping Sparrow, WT
Sparrow, Balitmore Oriole

What a lovely morning for birding; I sorely regret I agreed to work in my
friend's pottery shop in Bentonsport today. At least I got a couple hours
of fun in!
