With last night's SE winds and overnight storms, I thought this morning might be good for migrants. Shows what I know. Several hours at Backbone State Park this morning produced a total of 2 Swainson's Thrushes and 2 Tennessee Warblers. A nice consolation prize was a first Delaware County record Kentucky Warbler near the Civilian Conservation Corps Museum, and several Acadian Flycatchers, Veeries, Wood Thrushes, and Scarlet Tanagers were nice to find.
A walk at Bailey's Ford near Manchester added 1 Wilson's Warbler to my meager migrant list. On the way home I stopped at Beam Woods near Stone City, where an immature male Summer Tanager provided a first Jones County record of that species. Yesterday a Canada Warbler and a Magnolia Warbler were singing in my yard, and just now 5 Common Nighthawks swooped through the tree tops in the backyard.
