Subject: [ia-bird] Scarlet Tanagers

Just received several email pictures from Don Poggensee of 2 male Scarlet
anagers at Moorehead Park. I had observed these birds earlier and passed
he news onto Don.
It is interesting to note the increase\addition of summer birds at
oorehead Park over the past 20 years. When I moved here twenty years ago
observed a lack of summer nesting birds, but as the park has matured (?)
any birds which passed through in migration have since been observed
uring the summer months.
The list includes common eastern birds such as Blue Gray Gnatcatcher,
hich was once an uncommon visitor and is now a confirmed nester. Other
irds include Eastern Towhee and Red-eyed Vireo. This year Scarlet
anager has been added. A territorial Ovenbird was observed late in the
igration period but has not been observed since. Hopefully this bird and
any others will be added in the future.
Good birding,
Pete
