In my forty thousand miles of commuting between Sabula and Oxford, I finally
saw a Yellow-headed Black Bird in a ditch. It was with a number of RWBBs.
Later in the day, while sitting in the garden and contemplating my good
fortune with the Yellow-headed Black Bird, an American Kestrel came out of
the blue to test the resolve of the House Sparrows pecking for insects in
the weeds...I mean lettuce. I see lots of Kestrels, but never so close and
in hot pursuit. The sparrows ducked and the falcon flew on...I believe
without spotting me.
