I observed a fair amount of avian activity in my backyard yesterday
morning; among the species I spotted were the Blue-Headed Vireo,
Ruby-Crowned Kinglet, Yellow-Rumped Warbler, Eastern Phoebe, Gray Catbird,
Brown Thrasher, an Empidonax Flycatcher, several White-Throated Sparrows,
and, much to my shock and dismay, at least two or three Dark-Eyed Juncos.
I thought it a bit soon to be seeing these cold-weather birdlets; it seems
to me that in years prior, they've generally shown up at later dates.
