We had an excellant fallout of sparrows at Buckshot Lake in the Sedan Bottoms area of Appanoose County. The birds did not like the frost and sat on the tops of the grass for great looks. We saw at least 35 Sharp-tailed Sparrows - the target species. We also saw 15 Le Conte's , 85 Savannah's, and 40 Swamp. Most of these were seen with little walking as soon as we entered the taller grass at a southwest direction from the bales of hay at this area. We saw five more species of sparrows after this, 5 species of warblers and had a woodpecker sweep.Tom Johnson Mystic
