Forward from Clem Klaphake, who was manning the tower yesterday for yet another day of wacky weather and strange looking totals... The Turkey Vultures apparently once again showed their remarkable ability to ride Loess Hillls ridges effortlessly while tacking straight into the teeth of a howling headwind.
If I said it was WINDY on the tower today, do you think I would be exaggerating? If you do I will assume you are a liar or never stepped foot outside today. Horrible [southerly] wind from 9:00 to 5:30. Never let up. A decent number of TVs, but not much else in terms of numbers: TVs - 202 BE - 2 SS - 1 CH - 1 BW - 2 RT - 1 AK - 1 PG - 3 TOTAL = 213 ============= --- Please contribute your sightings to our list; it is only as good as members make it! --- Birding channel recommendation for FRS/GMRS radio use: Primary selection; channel 5/0 , alternate selection; channel 6/0 --- This mailing list is sponsored by the Iowa Ornithologists' Union.
