At around 5:15pm I was walking on the Oakdale Campus on the Coralville bike
trail and I ran into a large flock of Dark-eyed Juncos. I have never seen
anything like this. They appeared to be in every bush and tree. The weather is
weird, mostly bright and sunny, but with intermittent dark storm clouds and
rain. 57 degrees and the wind is out of the West at 20 mph. I went right home
and walked back with my binoculars to get a better count and to see if any
other birds were mixed in. Unfortunately they were gone. I would estimate
there were at least 500 juncos. Linda RudolphCoralville, Johnson County
