This morning I birded the area surrounding Barlett. Most of the water has receded, leaving some pools in fields where a number of birds have been feeding. Pelicans numbered in the thousands last week and are now down to several hundred. There were more American Golden-plover than I've ever seen. A large Cormorant nest is at the Waubonsie Access near Highway 2. Highlights: Am. Golden-plover- 543 Black-bellied Plover-12 White-faced Ibis - 9 Killdeer-700 Rough-legged Hawk-juv. Harlain's Hawk Am. Pipit-56 Wilson Snipe-84 LB Dowitcher-54 Herring Gull Great Egret-4 Wabonsie WA 15 Am. White Pelican 450 DC Cormorant-1500 Wabonsie WA 3 Cattle Egret Keith Dyche Shenandoah
