All:
With the gradual shift toward stronger winds an colder temperatures
good numbers of Tundra Swans are now moving into Pool 9 of the Upper
Mississippi River National Wildlife & Fish Refuge, located south of
Lansing, Allamakee County.
3-hour Fall Migrations Cruises onboard the heated and comfortable
boats of Mississippi Explorer Cruises are scheduled for this weekend,
5 & 6 November, and next weekend 12 & 13 November. Delicious catered
snacks, humorous stories by Captain Jack (who has returned from far-
off duties), and attempts at humor by myself, are all free.
Cruises leave the riverside dock in downtown Lansing at 1 PM each day
and last for at least 3 hours. Windows on all sides of river boats
provide excellent viewing from every seat. Reservations are
suggested, but not required, at 1-877-647-7397 Ext. 1. For other
details, you may visit: www.mississippiexplorer.com/ports/port-lansing.php
.
Truthfully, swan numbers will continue to increase all the way up
until freeze-up.
