IA-BIRDers:

Today on our final Fall Migration Cruise on the Mississippi River out of Lansing, Allamakee Co., we encountered a very large number of Bald Eagles. Many were perched, and others were milling about and testing large rafts of Canvasback and other waterfowl, and large numbers of coot. Our passengers, and crew were so in awe (and correctly so) that no one took the time to attempt an accurate count. But I estimate we saw at minimum, 350-400 Bald Eagles during our 3.5 hour cruise. Some 200 of these were in one fairly small area near approximately 2,000 Tundra Swans and a majority of the above mentioned waterfowl.

Happy birding to all!!!!
