After helping with the Des Moines CBC for most of today I made a quick stop at
Saylorville on my way home. The lake is still mostly open with many Common
Mergansers, but little else. Among the gulls I found a juvenile Iceland Gull
and 3 Thayer's Gulls, best viewed from Sandpiper Beach. There is also a
lingering Common Loon off the dam, and I discovered why it's still there - it
has a broken right wing.

I checked on Tyler Harms' Snowy Owl less than a half hour after he found it and
it was gone. I drove the roads in a one mile radius, but no luck. It is
probably somewhere nearby.
