5 wild Trumpeter swans can be seen at Mile Marker 233 on Hwy 34 West
bypass north of Mt. Pleasant (S.E. Iowa, Henry County).
4 Trumpeters have been here visiting since Dec. 9th and the 5th
one showed up on Dec. 28th. We feed there - 20 acres of water for
visitors - Trumpeters, Canadas, Cackling, Ruddy ducks, and Mallards can be
seen. There appears to be 4 mature Trumpeters and one grayling. One of
the mature birds is quite small compared to the others. We have looked
through the scope and cannot see any yellow on the lores.
You can view from the highway, make sure you pull well off the highway
onto the shoulder if you are going to stop.
