I was leaving the post office about 5:45 when I spotted a large bird flying toward the Iowa City court house. It looked rather whitish as it passed through lights, and, to my surprise landed on top of the flag pole atop the court house. Of course, as with most people, I had my scope in the trunk of my car. So, with the scope up in a second, I was amazed to be looking at a Snowy Owl! With the American flag just below, it was quite a sight. Middle of the city!
