Regarding Paul's Tundra Swan, I have scoped the pits from the road several
times in the last two days and hiked in on the public access yesterday. The
adult Mute Swan has consistently been there, but I have not seen any other
swans this weekend. All of the remaining open water can be scoped well from
the access road and a good piece can be seen from Beaver if you are careful.
I've checked all the pits to the east of the river and looked at a lot of goose
flocks out in ag fields in the area as well. I think this bird has probably
moved on. In addition to some of the waterfowl that have been regularly
reported from this spot, I did see the redpoll flock again. This time there
were seven birds, and a distinctive individual that was present the previous
week was not among them, so there seems to be some turnover in the group.
