January 23 at the Quad Cities;
A flock of about 25 White-winged Crossbills at Fairmount Cemetery (lower part)
contained at least one Red Crossbill.

There were very few gulls along Butterworth Parkway in Moline, but the one
group of about two dozen contained 2 first winter Thayer's Gulls and a first
winter Great Black-backed Gull. At Lock & Dam #15 in downtown Davenport there
was
an adult Thayer's Gull and what must be a rare winter record for Bonaparte's
Gull.

Another Bonaparte's Gull and three White Pelicans, as well as a male Hooded
Merganser were at the warm outflow at Concord and Wapello Streets.
