Went birding with some students this morning, and saw a flock of about 10 white-winged crossbills in a fairly large stand of spruce and fir trees on the south side of the Dordt College campus. A nice splash of color on a winter day. Also saw 3 bald eagles about 4 miles northwest of Sioux Center.
