James Huntington and I birded Cone Marsh (Louisa County) Sunday morning and L&D
14 on the Mississippi River Sunday afternoon.

Gull numbers at L&D 14 were in the thousands, with a huge influx of Ring-billed
Gulls but fewer of the rare gulls. Along with the Herrings and Ring-billeds, we
found:
--1 1W Great-Black-backed Gull
--1 1W Glaucous Gull
--1 1W Kumlien's/Thayer Gull
--1 2W Lesser Black-backed Gull

Overall duck numbers on the Mississippi River in the Davenport area are way
down from a couple of weeks ago when I was last there. Between Cone Marsh and
the Davenport area we tallied 21 waterfowl species (3 geese, 18 ducks).

A NORTHERN SHRIKE was on the west side of Cone Marsh Sunday morning.
