Yesterday there was only a small amount of open water in the stretch from Sandy Beach to below the MacBride Dam and lots of clear ice without snow.  This morning there was significant open water both N of the Scales Bend Marina [although at 1.2 miles I sure could not tell if there was anything there but the gull flock], and almost bank to bank open water between MacBride Nature Rec Area and the Scales Bend/Cumberland Ridge area.

With the drop down [to make room for the snow melt, I guess, there is a huge ring of mud around the most of the res.  I only saw one Killdeer, but I am sure there are other interesting things in the miles and miles of mud.
