I had a two hour hawk watch going this afternoon during the windy
and cloudy conditions. Many raptors were soaring above Amana Rd. at
Hawkeye's northwest section with a juv. GOLDEN EAGLE and dark morph
Red-tailed Hawk notable. The Golden Eagle made several passes around
the area so I had prolonged looks. Also saw my FOY Fox Sparrow there.
At Sand Point (Hawkeye WA) in the morning, I scoped some shorebirds.
Three flocks (20+) of Pectoral Sandpipers, 2 Lesser Yellowlegs, and
7 AMERICAN GOLDEN-PLOVERS were to the east. Also, a Franklin's Gull
stood out among the abundant Ring-billed Gulls.
