Birders, 320 acre Brinton Timber along the Skunk River is a hidden jewel one mile west of Brighton in SE IA. See: http://co.washington.ia.us/departments/conservation/brinton_timber.htm
Almost guaranteed, one can see Red Headed Woodpeckers there all year; this morning was no exception; 10-15 easily. Also present were Barred Owls, Wood Thrush, House Wren and Turkey Vultures. Though we didn't proceed down the Duck trail towards the river, I imagine more birds would be seen. Keep in mind when visiting Brinton that, though the Duck trail is wonderful, plan to hit that section when it hasn't rained in a while (like tomorrow, Sunday).
