While walking along the road next to Jacob Krumm I flushed a large raptor which at first I thought was a red tail and just as I realized it was not another raptor flushed and I could see it was a pair of Barred owls. I got a good look at one perched on a branch till it flew deeper into the woods. These are the 1st owls I have seen in J.Krumm in my many trips there. Also saw my first Great Blue heron and Turkey vultures of the season. Also among the 12 redtails seen the dark morph is still on 400th. In fact the only redtails stiil wintering in the area I walk/bird are all on 400th where also a juvenile was still around. I also saw a sharpie/coopers flying near Jacob Krumm. Later when outside near my apt. saw 1 sharpie flying low and 3 redtails very high up in about a 1 hour period. Greg Stempien Grinnell,IA
