While birding Swan Lake State Park earlier today, I caught sight of at least two male Eastern Towhees and a Field Sparrow. The Towhees were scratching and hopping through leaf litter along with several Harris's and Fox Sparrows. I heard the Field Sparrow before I saw it. Luckily, it was perched rather conspicuously on a barren branch and I was able to bring it in with my binoculars before it sounded off a second time.
I was also delighted by the sight of both a male and a female Purple Finch; the two were foraging for food behind the Bald Eagle display cage. On the water, I spotted two Double-Crested Cormorants. I very much look forward to seeing what other FOYs the next few days bring! Happy Birding To All!
