Subject: Forney's Lake today

Ross,

Greetings from Bellevue, where I'm visiting Mom from Seattle. If you think it
worthwhile, feel free to forward the following to the IA list.

Cheers,

Alan G.

Greetings, all,

Forney's Lake this afternoon (11 April, 2012) still had thousands of birds,
with 20 spp. of waterfowl, including a male CINNAMON TEAL, a pair of TRUMPETER
SWANs (one with a neck collar), at least five GREATER WHITE-FRONTED GEESE,
about ten SNOW GEESE (two blue), one ROSS'S GOOSE, one female BUFFLEHEAD, one
male CANVASBACK, a couple brown HOODED MERGANSERS (more were at Bartlet, with a
pair of RED-BREASTED MERGANSERS), plus thousands of coots and shovelers,
hundreds of AMERICAN WHITE PELICANS, three gull spp., and one PEREGRINE FALCON,
among else. We didn't find other rarities (nor night-herons, though we saw a
couple dozen GREAT EGRETS).

Earlier at Saint Mary's Island (six miles south of the Bellevue bridge) were
GREATER and LESSER YELLOWLEGS, PECTORAL, BAIRD'S, and LEAST SANDPIPERS, DUNLIN,
WILSON'S SNIPE, VESPER, SAVANNAH, and SONG SPARROWs, and a NORTHERN HARRIER.

[Wood Ducks in NE brought our day list to 22 Anseriformes.]

Cheers,

Alan Grenon
