I went down to SW Iowa today to watch the storms roll in and do some birding. In Pottawattamie Co., I saw a Western Kingbird outside of Lake Manawa (by the Casey's) and a Piping Plover on the north MidAmerican Energy pond. In Mills Co., there were no ibis at the wetland on Nellen Rd. where others have had them, but there were two Marbled Godwits, a few Great-tailed Grackles, and a small flock of 18 Yellow-headed Blackbirds. There were 22 Willets at the lake/pond where L31 crosses I29, found by Keith D earlier today. At Forney Lake in Fremont Co., I missed on the Neotropic Cormorant but did see the pair of Mottled Ducks and a male Cinnamon Teal near the boatramp and 3 Black-crowned Night-Herons towards the west end. Good birding... Jay Gilliam Norwalk, IA [email protected]_ (mailto:[email protected]) _http://jayspix.smugmug.com/Bird%20Photos/176462_ (http://jayspix.smugmug.com/Bird%20Photos/176462)
