Early this afternoon while trekking around Swan Lake, I caught sight of a Cattle Egret. I flushed him inadvertently and watched as he flew above the marsh and disappeared into the tall grass. I followed the unpaved trail leading along the lake's western edge until I came upon a well-concealed 'pond' and there he was, stalking the perimeter. I crouched behind some bushes and observed him for the next 2-3 mintues before he took flight again and disappeared from sight. Other notable sightings include Eared Grebe, Barn Swallow, Northern Rough-Winged Swallow, Lesser Yellowlegs, Brown Thrasher, Ruby-Crowned Kinglet, and White-Throated Sparrow. Unfortunately, there was no sign of the White-Faced Ibis that I saw yesterday morning.
